Lake Palace, Udaipur
The Lake Palace, built in 1754 A.D., is a fantasy island shimmering on mirror-calm Lake Pichola. Lake Palace the former summer residence of royal family was previously known as Jagmahal after the name of its founder Maharana Jagat Singh II. It is an impressive, imposing edifice exuding a royal ambience. Built entirely of marble, the ethereal pearl white inn is like a cloud floating on the lakes surface. The palace was converted into a hotel in 1963, and soon became one of the favorite resorts for the foreign tourists.
