Shilpgram, Udaipur
Close to the village Hawala, 3 km from Fateh Sagar, lies the Shilpgram village conceived as a living ethnographic museum. Literally meaning “Craftsmen’s Village”, it depicts the enormous diversities in craft, art and culture between various Indian states.
Shilpgram is set in 70 acres of natural surroundings at the foot of the Aravali mountains. It consists of 26 traditional huts well equipped with all household articles. Every year during the months of December-January, a fair of traditional ethnic crafts and arts from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Goa and Maharashtra is held here. Its huge open-air amphitheatre is the venue for major cultural festivals.
