The house of Mewar’s vintage and classic car collection does not stop at cars. The collection is based on vehicles owned by the past and present Maharanas of Udaipur, Each vehicle has its own interesting history, as well as being a rare and delightful relic of its era. The museum is approached through a rather grand gateway just opposite the main entrance of the Sajjan Niwas Gardens.  The grounds and buildings of the museum have been immaculately resorted and you will not fail to notice the ancient Burma shell petrol pumps that somewhat resembles instruments of torture. Fascinating as these pumps are it is likely that the modern day pumps are rather user-friendly. Amongst the most remarkable vehicles are four magnificent four Rolls Royces, each very different from the other. The “Jewel of India” vintage car rally is another imaginative and amusing event that was initiated by the present Maharana Arvind Singh Mewar. Teams come to India with their vintage cars from all over the worlds to take part in this great event. A thrilling rally which takes them on a mad drive of hundreds of miles throughout India finishing with price giving and the fabulous party at Udaipur City Palace.
