Jagdish Temple, Udaipur
The temple of Jagnnath Rai, built by Maharana Jagat Singh in 1651 AD, is now called Jagdishji. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is the largest and most splendid temple of Udaipur. The temple consists of a pyramidal spire (Shikar), a vestibule (Mandap) and a porch. It is a three-storeyed building with fifty pillars. The central temple is ornamented with excellent carvings and bold figures. Around the main temple are small shrines of Ganesha, Shiva, The sun God and Shakti, located in all four corners. Facing the deity is a brass statue of Garuda.
