Kankroli, Udaipur
Kankroli is yet another important Hindu pilgrim centre of the region. 15 Kms. further from nathdwara is another temple of Vathalnathji the son of Vallabhacharya who had seven sons. The temple here is dedicated to Lord Krishna and is popularly called as Dwarkadhish. He handed over the seven swaroopas among his sons and dwarkadheesh was distributed to the third son balkrishnaji. The image was worshipped in Gokul until the time of Aurangzeb, when unsafe political conditions in north India and recurrent family disputes, caused it to be shifted to Ahmedabad in 1670 A.D. Later it was installed at Asotia village near Udaipur where it remained till 1719 A.D. Finally th icon was shifted to Kankorali in 1720 A.D. Since then the God is being worshipped here. The sacred shrine ranks very high among the temple of the Vallabhacharya sect.
